Bernini's colonnade, all cleaned up!


The Barberini bees, on one of the four (Bernini) columns supporting the baldacchino.  Tucked under the central volute is a baby's face.  The other three column bases show the mother, just pregnant.  Then more pregnant with the shield behind the bees bulging out more and more, and the mom's face -- where the baby's is here  -- contorted in labor.  And then finally -- the baby!
